BioMar scales up RAS and fry feed production in Denmark

BioMar announces the new production line in Brande, Denmark, is now fully operational. The line is dedicated to RAS and fry aquaculture feed production and is the result of a DKK 100 million investment that has enabled BioMar to increase the annual capacity of the Danish facility by 25%.

High use of trimmings and the use of novel ingredients has enabled BioMar Group to achieve a five-year average of 1:1 or below Forage Fish Dependency Ratio for its raw material usage. This is one of many findings revealed in its Integrated Sustainability Report for 2019, released today.

BioMar Group is in a constant quest for enabling sustainable solutions for the aquaculture industry. A recent initiative of the BioMar feed factory in Denmark is to utilise feed bags made of 75 % recycled plastic material.
BioMar started the year with strong results, having met the challenges of corona virus with a high-performance across all geographies. The company has at the same time been reaching out to support customers and building inventories to meet any business impact caused by the corona virus.
To confirm a mutual interest in entering into a partnership, BioMar and Vietnam’s leading shrimp hatchery Viet-UC have signed a memorandum of understanding with the intention of BioMar becoming part owner and operational lead in the feed factory currently owned by Viet-UC.
